# Zed

> Use ModelStack with Zed editor

## Overview

Zed supports configurable language model providers via settings, including OpenAI-compatible endpoints.

## Prerequisites

* Zed installed
* ModelStack API key from [dashboard](https://modelstack.cc/dashboard/api-keys)

## Installation

Download and install Zed from [zed.dev](https://zed.dev).

## Configure ModelStack

Open Zed settings and add an OpenAI-compatible provider with:

* Base URL: `https://api.modelstack.cc/v1`
* API key: your ModelStack key
* Model: e.g. `claude-sonnet-4-6`

Example (conceptual settings structure):

```json theme={null}
{
  "language_models": {
    "openai_compatible": {
      "api_base": "https://api.modelstack.cc/v1",
      "api_key": "YOUR_MODELSTACK_API_KEY",
      "model": "claude-sonnet-4-6"
    }
  }
}
```

## Troubleshooting

* Confirm key and endpoint
* Confirm model name from [supported models](/models/supported-models)
