# Roo Code

> Use ModelStack with Roo Code in VS Code

## Overview

Roo Code is a VS Code AI coding assistant that supports OpenAI-compatible providers.

## Prerequisites

* VS Code installed
* ModelStack API key from [dashboard](https://modelstack.cc/dashboard/api-keys)

## Installation

1. Open VS Code
2. Go to Extensions
3. Search for **Roo Code**
4. Install and reload VS Code

## Configure ModelStack

In Roo Code provider settings:

* Provider: **OpenAI Compatible**
* Base URL: `https://api.modelstack.cc/v1`
* API key: your ModelStack API key
* Model: choose any from [supported models](/models/supported-models)

## Usage

Open Roo Code panel and start coding tasks as usual. All requests route through ModelStack.

## Troubleshooting

* Ensure your key is valid and has available credits
* Verify base URL is exactly `https://api.modelstack.cc/v1`
* Use valid model identifiers from ModelStack docs
